The student can read, understand and analyze academic English texts.
Reflection:
How I have met the learning goal
Item 1:
The first item includes research I did on our made podcast, eventually we did not use this research because our guest could not make it, but it still made me understand the topic better. The document shows that I am able to differentiate useful from not useful information. For this podcast it was important to be prepared on the topic, and ask the questions accordingly. With the information found about the interviewee and the topic we could be critical and quick on our feet during the podcast.
Item 2:
The second item are the 2 pagers of concepting, the 2 pagers existed of multiple components. one of them was a theoretical framework. With a theoretical framework it is critical that you understand the theory written, but also how to implement it. This is there for a good item to show as it is all about understanding analyzing and in the end applying it. The implementation of the theory in my framework shows that I can read, understand and analyze text, if I did not I would have not been able to implement it.
Item 3:
The third item, just like the first one is an item that includes research. This time not in preparation of a podcast/ interview but in preparation for a presentation. In a presentation it is important to give you audience useful and real information. It is there for important that you are able to pick the real from the fake and the useful from the not so useful information. The information found set up our presentation, but also made sure we knew about the topic and could answer questions accordingly.
Item 4:
The fourth item is a vocabulary list, I think It is very important to have a broad vocabulary because it will help you with the ability to recognize and analyze text in an easier way. if I would not know certain words, it could mean that when I am doing research I would pick the wrong information. The vocabulary list is of use when I come across a certain word I do not know, I look It up and make a sentence with it. This way I know how to use it and will not be able to forget it when I come across it again.
Item 5:
The fifth and final item of this learning goal is the marketing communications plan, this item shows I have met the goal because it was made according to information found when doing research. This information progressed into a marketing communications plan. It is very similar to item 1 and 3, if we were not able to analyze the text we would have not been able to create a marketing communications plan for our set target group.
What I have learned
I have learned that it is very important to check sources before you use them in your research. Another thing that I learned it that not all sources, even if they say so are useful for your report. Sometimes having 1 good source can be better than 3 sources with useless information. In class I learned to filter on words and sentences to get credible sources, I did not know how to do this before, but it has turned out to be very helpful in certain situations. I now also know the importance of understanding everything you read, the smallest mistake can lead to spreading the wrong information
What I still want/ need to learn.
Sometime I make the mistake of not going trough the whole source I would be using in my research, this might lead to some confusion and misunderstanding in projects. I still need to learn to read trough everything first and not assuming that everything you read is true, even though it might be a credible source. Sometimes I need to analyze the origin of the information. This could be in the terms of culturally or religiously originated sources, they might have been written from different perspectives. I want to learn how to separate those from each other.
Documents and files that show I have met this learning goal:
Item 1: research on made podcast
Item 2: 2 pagers concepting
Item 3: research crowd management
Item 4: vocabulary list
Item 5: marketing communications plan (from page 34)
